CYCLE ROUTES The Youth Council has completed surveys to enable a final cycle plan to be put in place. A meeting between the Youth Council and PCC Cycle Officer has been held and an initial survey is now to take place leading to a scheme. The scheme is now completed and ready for public consultation on 29th and 30th March. WELSHPOOL going into the future with pride The School has taken part in the consultation into the new Welshpool Plan. See main web page for details. SCULPTURE PARK The Youth Council was consulted on the sculpture park and their views have been taken on board. A public consultation is now to take place when funds are available. BASEMENT THE TOWN HALL A full discussion took place on the uses of the basement of the Town Hall and following this a planning application is being prepared. A slight delay will take place while funds are put in place. The planning application is now ready. |
SCULPTURES AT THE TIC AND FOUNTAIN A competition was held with the 6th form and then a public vote for a sculpture. Two sculptures were chosen and they are to be erected in the two locations. Progress is being made but it is slow. RENEWABLE ENERGY CONSULTATION The Youth Council completed the consultation by the WAG on renewable energy delivery in Mid Wales. There is also to be a further consultation with all students on 30th March 2011. ZEBRA CROSSINGS Concern was expressed about cars not stopping a crossings, these have now been better lit and railings have been erected as well. The crossing by the Armoury is due to be refurbished shortly. TOWN CENTRE DEVELOPMENT The Youth Council would like to put forward suggestions for larger shops in Welshpool, these requests along with those for other facilities for Welshpool have been passed onto the relevant people involved.

NEW
PLAYGROUNDS The Youth Council was asked for its views on what should be provided in the two new play areas. There has also been a survey of the Infant and Junior schools. Plans have now been approved and the playground should be in place by Mid May 2011. SCHOOL PROPOSALS The Youth Council considered the school proposals. Concern is apparent. The Members are to speak to their colleges and parents. In due course the Youth Council will decide what it wishes to do.
