NORTH  POWYS TOWN AND COMMUNITY COUNCIL FORUM

current activities

The discussions and objections to wind farm transport continue along with concern over the major power line link.  A formal response has been prepared to the consultation from the WAG on TAN8 and 12.8 Renewable Energy.

The forum has presented petitions to the WAG and to Parliament and is meeting regularly the discuss the issues and influence decisions.

BOUNDARY COMMISSION

The forum discussed in outline the Boundary Revisions programme. The Commission has confirmed that there will be no changes before the next elections.

MOBILE POST OFFICE

The forum is to seek to invite an officer of the Post Office regarding the above and possible loss of the service.  This is still being pursued.

The draft programme for the LDP consultations is now known with the process starting early in 2011 following the adoption of the Unitary Development Plan by Powys County Council.  All Town and Community Councils need to be involved.

CHARTER WITH POWYS CC

The provision a charter is to be progressed with Town and Community Councils.  The forum has supported this initiative and offered to be part of any discussion group.

Pension - cost to Local Community councils

It has come to light that there are future liabilities under the national scheme which Local Councils should be aware of.  This item is on the agenda for the January 2011 meeting.

Parliamentary Boundaries

The Forum is taking an active line in the consultation with regarding to the new Boundary Proposals, the stance being to seek retention of Montgomeryshire.

MONTGOMERYSHIRE FORUM

The suggestion of a Montgomeryshire Wide Forum has been discussed and Powys County Council wish such a forum to be run by One Voice Wales.  The membership disagrees. See April 2010 minutes for information.  A constitution has now been put in place. A letter is to be prepared for PCC to consider with regard to the future of the Forum.  A meeting with One Voice Wales has been held and the CE is attending the January 2011 meeting.  The Forum is now taking legal advice on the best way forward.

LDP for Powys

The Forum is taking an active part in the consultation process with regard to the LDP.
