              Welshpool has 3 electoral wards which are:

 

                      Castle Ward - 4 Councillors

 

                Llanerchyddol Ward - 6 Councillors

 

                     Gungrog Ward - 6 Councillors

 

Youth Representatives - up to 2 members

 

 

 

 

VOTING FOR YOUR COUNCILLOR

Every four years you have the chance to vote to choose the Council you wish to represent you.  The elections are normally held on the first Thursday in May.  Sometimes there is a by election mid term.

 

 

VOTING AT COUNCIL MEETINGS

Any decisions taken at Council meetings are so taken by only those Councillors who are present.

HOW YOU CAN STAND FOR ELECTION

If you live or own property or run a business in Welshpool you may stand for election to the Council.  You will need to gain a nomination form close to election time and submit it with the relevant signatures supporting your nomination. Then all you have to do is get enough votes to get election a Councillor.  All those standing may promise the electorate that their subjects will be on the agenda, however the result of any discussion can not be guaranteed.
